No Shirt & Best Buy Crashing Stunts

Today’s discussion on “Shopping America” and the ridiculous clip we were watching before class (The Hipster Olympics) reminded me of this hilarious stunt pulled by an organization called Improv Everywhere which is essentially a bunch of random, ordinary guys walking into Abercrombie and Fitch… and then strippin like a candy cane. It’s up to you to read into the stunt as much deeper meaning, social commentary as you want but, no matter what, it’s enormously entertaining. Lemme know what you think of the implications of the whole thing; it’d be cool to get some kind of semi-serious discussion on it.

Also take a look at one of their other stunts, the Best Buy infiltration which actually really reminded me of today’s class. The lead guy got a bunch of random strangers to show up in blue shirts and khaki pants (the BB uniform) and just stand around randomly at an NYC Best Buy location. The entire stunt was captured through all kinds of ingenious methods (reminding me of the pin-hole camera paragraph), including one guy who stuck a camera in an XBOX 360 cardboard box. It’s fantastic:
